Initially, I found this knife to be decent for its price, but the locking mechanism for the blade was extremely poor. I had to flick it open with considerable force for it to lock, which seemed unreasonable and raised safety concerns. However, as long as I applied the necessary effort while opening, I managed to use it without issues. The sharpness out of the box was lackluster, but a bit of sharpening improved it adequately. I didn’t expect it to be the sharpest knife for under $10.
Updated review: The manufacturer contacted me and sent a replacement knife. It’s clear that the first one was defective, as there’s a noticeable improvement in the opening and locking mechanism. Unlike the initial knife, which was loose and difficult to operate, this new one opens effortlessly with a simple press on the spine and locks securely. It feels solid, with a noticeable friction during operation that was absent in the first knife. For $10, this blade is definitely worth it.

I recently bought my second knife from Grand Way, and while the first one was more decorative, this one is incredibly practical. I’ve taken it on a couple of weekend backpacking trips, and I have no complaints. It’s easy to deploy the blade with one hand if necessary, and it folds up effortlessly once the lock is disengaged. Using the knife one-handed works well, but it does require some dexterity for opening and closing.
The additional features, like the spark striker and whistle, are effective. The whistle can be used without detaching it from the knife, and it’s surprisingly loud and clear—I accidentally startled my cats while testing it! I think it will be handy for scaring off overly curious wildlife. The striker works, though you need to scrape the finish to get it to ignite. It’s quite small and meant for emergency situations, so I wouldn’t rely on it as my primary fire starter, but it did light a homemade cotton ball covered in Vaseline within about a minute.
The paracord wrapped around the handle might be tough to remove, but it can be done in an emergency; primarily, it serves as a grip enhancement. Overall, this knife offers great value with its 440c blade, combining usability and an attractive design. I look forward to using it for years to come. I tend to be hard on knives, so I’ll provide an update if I encounter any issues, but for now, I’m very satisfied and plan to order a few more as stocking stuffers this year.

This knife arrived promptly and was packaged securely. The spring-assisted blade opens smoothly and reliably. The blade lock works flawlessly and is easy to disengage. My only concern is the storage for the flint; it fits too loosely and can easily fall out. However, the suggested fix from other comments is effective and takes about 20 seconds to implement. I’ve included a photo of the solution. By threading one of the cords through a hole in the handle where the flint is stored, you create friction that keeps the flint securely in place. I threaded mine down through the handle and out the hole, then tied the two cords together to make a convenient loop that fits around my wrist. The blade is sharp, though I’m uncertain how long it will maintain its edge with use. I’m also having trouble getting a spark from the flint, so I’ll need to do some research to ensure I’m using it correctly. Despite the flint issue, which isn’t a deal breaker for me, the handle feels comfortable in my grip. Overall, I’m very impressed with this knife for the price. I rated it four stars due to the flint spark problem.
