    I recently transitioned from multi-tools to pocket knives and received a tanto-style knife as a gift. While I liked it, it was a bit too long for my taste, so I sought something more compact.

    Pros:
    The mini Praxis Civivi is the perfect size (3.81 inches closed) and features a deep pocket clip, which is ideal for my preferred carry position. I often find that other knives and multi-tools can rub against the small pocket where I keep my headphones. The scales offer a great grip without being abrasive to the touch. The screws sit flush with the body, giving it a streamlined look. The jimping on the flipper is deep, providing a solid grip for my finger or thumb during opening. The blade opens smoothly and produces a satisfying sound when it locks into place.

    Cons:
    Due to muscular issues in my right hand and fingers, I find the liner lock too close to the scales/body, making it challenging to close with one hand. However, I can easily roll my thumb to close it with my left hand. I would have preferred if the liner lock extended out a bit more for better thumb engagement. Additionally, it would be great if the clip were configurable for both left and right-handed carry.

    Overall, I’m keeping the knife; it’s a stylish compact option. However, I would appreciate seeing a model with an Axis or button lock, or with a liner lock that protrudes slightly more.

    The blade quality is exceptional. The 2.98″ D2 steel blade is incredibly sharp from the start and maintains its edge even after extensive use. Its size is ideal for everyday carry—compact enough to fit snugly in your pocket while still capable of handling a range of tasks.

    This is an outstanding daily carry drop point flipper knife, although I wish it were just a bit larger.

    DESCRIPTION:
    When folded, it measures 3.75”/9.5cm, and when opened, it’s 6.75”/17.3cm long, with a blade length just under 3”/7.3cm, of which 2.5”/6.4cm is the cutting edge. It features a choil/finger groove and is approximately 3/8”/0.9cm wide. The handle is made from beautifully checkered olive G10, while the metal components are black. It includes a pocket clip on one side, which I don’t use, but it appears quite durable.

    PROS:

    • Exceptionally well-crafted—better than many Chinese Bokers and lower-end American-made Kershaw and Buck knives in my collection. The fit and finish are excellent, with no blade movement or misalignment when open or closed.
    • The opening action is incredibly smooth. A gentle press of my index finger on the slightly protruding flipper deploys the blade quickly and effortlessly, without requiring any wrist flick.
    • Aesthetically, it’s a very attractive knife, with a pleasing shape and design that doesn’t appear “dangerous” to those unfamiliar with knives.
    • Its small and lightweight design makes it easy to forget it’s in my front jeans pocket, yet it’s sturdy enough for any reasonable daily use.
    • Lastly, the knife arrived impressively sharp, able to shave arm hair right out of the box, and it has maintained its edge over the weeks I’ve been carrying it. The D2 steel seems to hold an edge well and sharpens adequately.

    CONS:

    • The handle is a bit on the small side. With average-sized hands and typically wearing a large men’s glove, I find the handle slightly shorter than I’d prefer unless I let my index finger rest on the choil/finger cutout. If the handle were just an extra quarter inch longer, this knife would be nearly perfect. This slight sizing issue is why I deducted half a star from my rating. I usually refrain from lowering ratings for aspects clearly mentioned in the product description, but I think many others might share my view regarding the fit. It’s unfortunate that Civivi doesn’t offer a slightly larger medium-sized Praxis, as the full-size version seems a bit too large for my daily carry needs.

    CONCLUSION:
    Despite the handle being a bit short for extended or rough use, I’ve enjoyed this knife so much that it has become my go-to carry since I purchased it. For the $26 price tag, it offers remarkable value. While there are some well-regarded Chinese knife brands selling slightly cheaper options with similar specs, I doubt their quality matches that of this Civivi. I certainly don’t “need” any more knives beyond the dozen I already own, and I can’t justify criticizing my wife’s shoe collection, which may be more practical than some of my knife acquisitions. However, if I find myself lacking willpower, my next knife will likely be another Civivi, probably an Elementum with a Damascus blade.

    The knife is smaller than I expected based on the product photos (I used a debit card for scale), but it’s still an amazing tool! It feels lightweight and comfortable in hand. I really appreciate the design—it’s simple, sleek, and elegant. The flipping action is smooth and, while it’s not spring-assisted, it’s easy to open fully and close with one hand, even using my non-dominant hand. It arrived incredibly sharp! The clip is nice and secure, so I don’t worry about it slipping out of my pocket. I’m really thrilled with this knife! It’s definitely worth it.
