Excellent quality, extremely sharp, and operates smoothly. I appreciate the size. I’m a big fan of Gerber knives; I believe I own one of each model they’ve produced, and I’ve never been let down by any of them.

This is a fantastic little knife! It offers a sharp, compact design that excels at all the usual tasks. I primarily used it for opening boxes, and it performed exceptionally well for that purpose. Unfortunately, due to its small size, I lost it within about two weeks, but that’s more of a personal oversight than a flaw in the product. I suggest attaching a small chain or some method to secure it better than the tiny clip. While the clip is effective, I accidentally dislodged the knife when reaching for my keys. Overall, I would definitely purchase this knife again as it maintains its sharpness remarkably well, even when cutting through cardboard. A great little knife!

    Pros:

    • This knife is quite affordable; I won’t be too upset if I misplace it and need to buy another.
    • It has an attractive design.
    • Weighing in at just 2.81 oz (79.7g) according to my scale, it’s very lightweight.
    • It’s discreet; I hardly notice it clipped to my back pocket, even when sitting in a car (unless I’m moving around a lot).
    • It arrived impressively sharp.

    Cons:

    • The thumb studs seem pointless and may even hinder usage. They don’t assist in opening or closing the knife at all and can be uncomfortable when sitting, as they tend to dig into you. The rear one can also get caught on my pocket when trying to clip or unclip the knife.
    • The serrated section had burrs upon arrival, but fortunately, I had a Lansky Blade Medic on hand to quickly address that issue.
    • There was a tiny nick on the cutout side of the blade, about the size of a small needle’s eye. While it’s not a major concern for me, even a budget knife should ideally come without defects.

Overall, I’m pleased with the knife. It meets my needs, and while the cons were significant enough to warrant a four-star rating, they didn’t deter me given the price.

To be honest, I’m not very knowledgeable about pocket knives and was surprised by how pricey they can be. My main goal was to find a knife to carry for cutting up apples and opening boxes—nothing too intense, as I’m not planning on fighting bears. Plus, it’s much easier to lose a $20 knife than a $200 one.

As for the knife itself, it opens and closes smoothly, requiring both hands for each action. This isn’t an issue for me since I don’t need to be stealthy while slicing apples. However, it does raise questions about the usefulness of the thumb studs. I need both hands to initiate the opening; once I overcome the initial resistance, I could use my thumb to finish opening it, but it’s quicker to finish with both hands. The rear stud can also obstruct the clip, which might help keep the knife in place in my pocket, but it feels unnecessary—I might just remove it.

For my intended use, the knife’s unobtrusive nature is a plus. Once clipped on, I barely notice it, even when seated in the car.

I’ve been using my four-year-old Gerber Paraframe 1 for an office remodel all week, and I realized I needed a backup in case I misplace it. I found it on Amazon for just $20 and decided to grab a spare. The quality remains excellent, and it came fairly sharp, but I easily honed it to a shaving edge in a couple of minutes. I did notice that the thumb stud on the new one rotates, unlike my old one, which is fixed. I saw another reviewer mention this, but I’m not too concerned since it’s securely attached. It’s a bit tricky to open one-handed, but that doesn’t bother me. I chose this stainless knife for its low profile when clipped in my pocket, lightweight yet sturdy frame, ergonomic design, and decent edge retention. I prefer stainless for everyday carry due to maintenance reasons. This blade isn’t part of a collection; it’s with me daily, whether I’m working, hiking, or camping. It sees regular use. All this for $20 is truly a bargain in my opinion.
